| Dear Prayer Partners,
Even amid the resurgence in violence in
our community, we are able to reap the benefits
of God's blessings.
Over the past two months we have been extremely
busy doing work around the church and held
two Vacation Bible School programs, with
the help of Edgewood Baptist Church from
Rock Island, Illinois and Twin City Baptist
Church from Brewer, Maine. Edgewood helped
us put up the last 425 feet of our wall,
allowing us to secure our property. They
also did a whole host of projects, including
painting, electrical work, and setting up
two bathrooms. It still seems odd to have
so many bathrooms after living without one
for over four years. In addition to the
work on the church they put on a three day
VBS where we saw one young lady accept the
Lord as her Savior. AMEN!! We witnessed
God's protection when a day after Edgewood
left there was a major turf war, with three
persons loosing their lives and entering
eternity. A week after Edgewood left, Twin
City arrived with their youth team and put
on a five day VBS, which was also a real
success and we saw three more persons accept
the Lord as their Savior. AMEN, again!!
We certainly appreciate all of the hard
work that these churches did. I must admit
that I was a bit nervous to have so many
visitors when the violence was all around
the church, but God is more than good, He
is fantastic. He protected us and blessed
us as well.
This summer we also had two summer interns,
Stephanie Soos and Ashley Lesslie. They
were both with us for six weeks and we did
our best to expose them to life on the mission
field. We allowed themto participate in
our ministry by teaching Sunday school classes,
working on the church building, helping
in the MANNA care center and to their credit
anything else we asked them to do. We recognize
the importance of exposing people to life
on the mission field and therefore encourage
our supporting churches to come and partner
with us on the mission field.
After such a busy summer, we will be heading
back to the States to visit some supporting
